Dr. Katie Cerrone, associate professor of technical mathematics, stepped into the role of president for the Ohio Section of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) at the recent spring meeting. She will serve a two-year term, concluding in spring 2020.

Previous to being elected, Cerrone served as the co-coordinator of Ohio NExT (New Experiences in Teaching), which is a mentoring program for new faculty in the section. Cerrone became active in the section by attending the Ohio NExT workshops, where she enjoyed meeting new section members and learning how others are improving their teaching.

From 2009 to 2013, Cerrone served as the Ohio Math and Science Coalition Liaison, and was a member of the Committee on Teacher Education and Licensure from 2008 to 2012. This past year, she has been president-elect.
